Next Steps, Routes & Providers

As your child approaches the end of Year 11, it51ÁÔÆæ™s important to start thinking about their next steps in education or training. In England, young people must continue in some form of education or training until at least their 18th birthday. This is part of the government51ÁÔÆæ™s Raising the Participation Age policy.Ìý

This doesn51ÁÔÆæ™t mean they have to stay in school51ÁÔÆæ”there are several options available, including:Ìý

  • Full-time education (such as college or sixth form)Ìý
  • An apprenticeship (learning while earning)Ìý
  • Part-time education or training combined with at least 20 hours of paid or volunteer work per weekÌý

Each route offers different opportunities depending on your child51ÁÔÆæ™s interests, strengths, and career goals. Your support and encouragement can make a big difference as they make these important decisions.Ìý
